A Level Results 2021
Altrincham Grammar School for Boys are celebrating some outstanding achievements by its students in their A levels qualifications this summer. For all A level students across the country, 2021 has been one of the most challenging years in education. As with all of the difficulties they have encountered, AGSB Year 13 students have risen superbly to the challenges posed by the cancellation of their examinations. As they receive their 2021 A level grades, we congratulate them, and celebrate not only the hard work each one has put in over their time at AGSB, but also their resourcefulness, their enthusiasm and their wider contribution towards School life.
We are delighted to report that after two years’ hard work, the majority of our students have been awarded grades that will enable them to study at their first choice university. Students have been awarded places to study a wide range of courses such as those within humanities, modern foreign languages, science, engineering, computer science and the arts. Many students have gained places to study at prestigious universities across the breadth of the UK and abroad. 13 students have secured places at Oxford or Cambridge Universities and at least 28 have secured places to study Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science.
Special mention to the following students who were awarded 5 A*’s grades in their A-levels, including EPQ results:
Abhinav A, Henry M and Mohsin M.
Special mention also to the following students who were awarded 4 A*’s grades in their A-levels, including EPQ results:
Hasan A, Harry A, Ewan B, Luke C, Joshua D, Oliver E, Nugith J, Awais K, George S, James B, Ali I and Naill K.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.
Head Master Graeme Wright said: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year and I want to pay huge tribute to all of the students in Year 13. Despite facing a number of challenges and setbacks, they have secured outstanding A Level results. They have demonstrated such resilience and deserve their great success. This year group have been outstanding and have achieved a huge amount throughout their time at AGSB. We wish them the best of luck for the future. I know that many students were frustrated that they were denied the opportunity to sit their examinations, and to demonstrate their academic ability in the usual way, but all at AGSB could not be prouder of how they have handled the challenges and uncertainty they have encountered. Their collective A level results are very impressive, and are testament to the talent, dedication and togetherness of this fantastic cohort. A special mention also must go to our teachers who have worked tirelessly to ensure students are able to progress onto further education and study, and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future.”
