A Magical Triumph: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Altrincham Grammar School for Boys dazzled audiences with its spectacular production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, held in the Coleman Hall. The production also featured guest cast members from AGGS and Loreto Grammar.
Over four unforgettable performances, the talented cast transported attendees into the enchanting world of Willy Wonka, earning standing ovations and glowing reviews throughout its run. Notably, this was one of the very first school adaptations of the musical in the UK—certainly a groundbreaking moment for the North West.
Director Liz Jarratt shared her pride in the remarkable achievements of the young cast and crew: "This was our most ambitious project yet, with unprecedented technical challenges. From the band playing in a separate room to inventing and building intricate props, and integrating filmed and edited tech elements, the team rose to the occasion brilliantly. I'm so proud of the cast, crew, and band for delivering a professional-level performance. Who needs the West End?"
Head Master Graeme Wright was equally enthusiastic, praising the production: "What a marvellous school show! With spellbinding special effects, breathtaking dance routines, and deeply heartfelt moments, this is easily one of the finest productions AGSB has ever staged."
Congratulations to the entire Charlie and the Chocolate Factory team for an extraordinary achievement! 🌟
